ICYM Kumbla Unit Organizes Gandyanth Khel Mel Season 2

Kumbla, August 11, 2024: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kumbla unit successfully organized the second season of its annual ‘Gandyanth Khel Mel’ on August 11, 2024, at Kamana Bail, Kannur. Parishioners from all four wards of the parish participated enthusiastically in this vibrant community event.

The program commenced with a prayer song led by ICYM members, followed by the ceremonial planting of paddy crops by the esteemed guests, marking the official inauguration.

The event was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Lanson Pinto, Assistant Parish Priest of Urva Church, Mangalore, who served as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Rev. Fr. Suraj Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest and assistant director of ICYM Kumbla and St. Monica Church Kumbla; Mr. Melwyn Dsouza, president of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Ms. Neema Dsilva, Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Lanson Dsouza, Vice President of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate; Mr. Raju Dsouza, Vice President of the Pastoral Council, St. Monica Church Kumbla; and Ms. Leedia, Secretary of the Pastoral Council, St. Monica Church Kumbla.

Joel Crasta, president of ICYM Kumbla, extended a warm welcome to the guests and the gathering. Rev. Fr Lanson Pinto and Rev. Fr. Suraj Lobo addressed the attendees, inspiring them with their words.

The heart of the event featured a variety of individual and group competitions catering to children, couples, and elders. The lively atmosphere was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and friendly competition.

The concluding ceremony was presided by Fr Melwyn D Souza the Parish Priest & Director of ICYM Kumbla Unit and Joel Crasta welcomed the gathering once again, acknowledging the presence of Rev. Fr Melwyn Dsouza, Director of ICYM Kumbla and Parish Priest of St. Monica Church Kumbla, along with the other esteemed guests.

The winners of the various competitions were awarded prizes by the guests, recognizing their achievements. A special moment of appreciation was dedicated to Rev. Fr Lanson Pinto for his instrumental role in bringing the parishioners together and infusing new energy into ICYM Season 1 of Gandyanth Khel Mel.

Rev. Fr. Melwyn Dsouza addressed the gathering, expressing his admiration for the efforts of ICYM members in fostering a strong sense of community among the parishioners.

The event concluded on a high note with the singing of the ICYM anthem followed by a lively baila dance.  Joel Crasta mastered the ceremony, and the active participation of ICYM Kumbla members contributed to the overall success of the event.

The day, packed with excitement and entertainment, was a resounding success. Participants left with cherished memories and a renewed sense of community spirit.
